Reminder - Use Diagnotes to communicate and protect PHI

Cerner users are reminded to use only Diagnotes for any communications that may include Protected Health Information (PHI), including photographs and/or videos.

IU Health-approved Diagnotes uses secure end-to-end encryption to protect PHI and is the secure replacement for pagers and text messaging.

If you use Cerner, you have access to Diagnotes:

  • Download the Diagnotes|Clinican app from the App Store or Google Play by searching “Diagnotes.”
  • Once you download the app, use your Cerner username (user@iuhealth.org) and password to log in.

Please see the Diagnotes User Guide on the IS Clinical Education site for help and/or reach out to your Clinical Informatics representative.

Amwell Virtual Visits Cerner embedded solution is now live

Over the last year, the use of Virtual Care at IU Health and across the country has grown exponentially.  With no sign of slowing, Clinical IS and Virtual Care are continuously working to create a more seamless experience for our patients and providers. That’s why Amwell Virtual Visits is now embedded within the Cerner electronic health record for scheduled virtual visits.

Is the Amwell Virtual Visits – Cerner Embedded Solution the best solution for your patients?

If you or your clinic complete scheduled ambulatory appointments virtually, then the Amwell Virtual Visits – Cerner Embedded Solution may be right for you!  Amwell Virtual Visits provides the same features as Amwell Now, as well as some others, including:

  • Ability to launch the video stream from within Cerner for any appropriate team members.
  • Ability to invite interpreters and other team members before or during the visit.
  • Automation of creating invitations from the patient’s phone number or email already in the Cerner EMR.
  • Visibility of who is in the visit from the Cerner EMR.
  • Chat features for IU Health Team Members.
  • Chat features with the patient during the visit.
  • Patients can participate on a range of devices and incoming calls will not disrupt the visit.
  • Patients do not have to download an application.

More information can be found in the Amwell Virtual Visits Toolkit and through this checklist and troubleshooting flyer.
